Acupuncture is a very effective

modality for relieving pain. It is slowly gaining recognition by the public. Still, when most people have been injured and are in pain, they will try several other methods of pain relief before considering acupuncture. In so many cases, the care for their pain is acupuncture and they needlessly waste time and money on other treatments.

   Herein present to you one typical wound healing case recently treated in my office.
The patient is a 56 years old gentleman.

   On Oct. 2, 1998 the patient had thoracic and abdominal aortic aneurysm surgery. Following his hospital release, he was sent home with standard painkillers. Unfortunately, he developed reactions that included irritability to breathe normally, hives, and gastric upsets. His medication was changed but he was unable to tolerate any pain medication. After a thorough examination, it was evident that he was suffering from a blood deficiency syndrome. To increase his blood condition I used 13 acupuncture points. At the same time I suggested he take Shou Wu Zhi, a liquid Chinese herbal formula to tonify blood and correct anemia condition. After 12 acupuncture sessions, the hardness along the scar is completely gone. The scar from surgery has healed very nicely. During this whole recovery process, the patient had very little suffering.

   The patient said that even though insurance did not cover acupuncture, he was happy to pay for the service because of the relief it brought to him.

   Based on scientific research, it is clearly verified that acupuncture can elevate the endorphin substance in our brain to ease the pain signal. It also can change the level of many neurotransmitters. Through changing and regulating of our own neurological system, acupuncture plays a role as a natural painkiller. It has no side effects and is very gentle procedure.
